Installing Artifacts

Agents

IxoraRMS comes with a relatively comprehensive set of built-in agents but new agents can be installed at any time using the "Agent Installer" tool available from the "Tools" > "Agent Installer..." menu item.

There are three types of installation:
  • Custom agent installation - used to create new custom agents, see "Custom  Monitoring" for more information.
  • Packaged agent installation - used to install or update an agent provided in an IxoraRMS package (a file with the extension agent, e.g. WebSphereSIBTables.agent)
  • Import custom agent from another IxoraRMS instance - used to import an agent from another installation of IxoraRMS on the same host.  
Other artifacts in IxoraRMS (providers, data views and dashboards) can be installed by providing their XML definition.

Dashboards

Select from the monitoring session tree the location where you wish to create the dashboard. On the artefacts panel, select the "Dashboard" tab and right click anywhere to bring out the context menu. From here select the "Add..." item (see image below). From the "Dashboard Editor" dialog, click on the "Import From XML..." button, paste the XML definition of the dashboard in the "XML Input Data" dialog and press "Ok".


Views

Select from the monitoring session tree the location where you wish to create the data view. On the artefacts panel, select the "Views" tab and right click anywhere to bring out the context menu. From here select the "Add..." item (see image below), paste the XML definition of the data view in the "XML Input Data" dialog and press "Ok".

Providers

Open the "Provider Instance Manager" dialog by clicking on the "Tools" > "Provider Manager..." menu item. In this dialog, select the agent you wish to add the provider to and click on the "Add" button. This opens the "Provider Instance Editor" dialog. On this dialog click on the "Import From XML..." button, paste the XML definition of the provider in the "XML Input Data" dialog and press "Ok".
